This is a great idea. Thanks for the tools Reg!! I am taking that dvd copying thing right now!
During the last six decades, Cliff Richard has charted many hit singles, and holds the record (along with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its active decades (1950s–2000s). According to his website, he has sold 250 million records over the course of his career.

stickied. great idea reg.
dvdshrink is an incredible program, and highly useful.
another excellent zip program is 7zip. massive compression and an easy interface. here's the link.
if you need a really good free audio editor, there's audacity. clean interface and really fast.
if you ever read rss feeds and want an easy, good looking feed aggregator, there's rssowl. it really does make the whole job of reading feeds a million times easier.
obviously, everyone needs a bittorrent program - and the absolute best is azureus. constantly updated, it looks good and is easy to use.
i also cannot live without irfanview image viewer and picasa photo organiser.
more to come!

Russia is doing so much for the pirate community!!!

VLC - Who needs Media Player / RealPlayer / QuickTime / ETC when this can run everything for you... (Features)
DAEMON Tools (come on you pirates)
ISO Recorder - essential for those quick ISO burns, it now also features the ability to make your own custom ISO images on your HDD (adds it to the context menu for folders)
µtorrent - I find it better than Azureas, that Java-based son of a memory whore. Azureas is pretty complicated for novice Torrent users, and is only really good for power-users that don't intend on doing much else with their PC's while downloading torrents unless they have excessive amounts of RAM. µtorrent supports most of the stuff that Azureas supports anyways, is written in C++ (so its fast) and has a minute memory footprint (so it doesn't suck your RAM). Best of all, you don't need to install it, you can download a single .exe and just run that. Seriously, you torrent users, have a look at this...
torrent site: mininova.org - for when I can't find stuff on Demonoid.
FastStone Image Viewer
Also, not sure if you guys are aware you can download Microsoft Office 2007 (beta) from the Microsoft site for free (or at least were able to when I registered and downloaded it myself).
VMPlayer - VMWares Virtual Machine. Remember to read this article and download this file
Virtual PC 2004 - Microsoft's Virtual Machine (its free)
I can't really think of anything else at the moment, I know of a few programming tools (snippet compiler, .NET Refractor etc) if you want the links...
Edit:
Game Fixes / No CD: megagames
Serials: serials.ws - warning: NSFW banners on the top of the page, I suggest you disable images in your browser if you want to use the site at work (although it don't stop those damn ALT tags from coming through).

I use µtorrent and I find it lovely. It is so little but it does big things. Sort of like my penis except that it is massively huge.
I need to make avi files into a DVD which plays on normal DVD (non-pc) players. What software do I need and where do I get the crack for it?

The DVD making people have now come up with a way to "protect" DVD's it basicaly entails adding faults to the disk intentionaly that a player will overlook but a copier will not (CRC type errors) i have found this type of protection on Narnia and 8 below
never fear there is a solution
download the below install the 3 packages set up and use RipIt4Me
RipIt4Me is just a nice UI / Parser for the other 2 pgms and DVD shrink
also here is THE site for technical DVD info http://www.doom9.org/

This looks like a nifty Javascript / CSS / HTML Editor (PHP plugin coming along sometime I think): Aptana: The Web IDE. It shows you the browser-compatability of what ever you're using in the code complete - making your coding choice much easier. I'm still busy downloading it (along with the rest of the Internet) so will update this post once I've tried it out. Oh yeah, it's x-platform too.

I installed the eclipse plugin, looks quite nifty. Must say I don't usually use IDE's (a combination of vim, gcc, gdb and handcrafted makefiles is more my style) but I used eclipse for a programming assignment recently (implementing a raytracer in java
) and it was actually less horrible than I'd imagined.
