basically, it's a collection of applications (word processor, net browser, instant messaging, antivirus etc) that fit onto a usb drive or similiar device.
you can carry the device around, from computer to computer, and always have the applications with you - you don't need to install them on the pc, but can just run them off the usb stick or whatever.
even with all the apps put together, they fit on a 500mb stick.

You could fit that on a 128mb flashdrive... I LIKE!!!
Have never used any of these open source word processors etc. But then again how hard can it be? Mind you Work 2003 was soooooo much better than word 2000....
