New Points System

Post by Tenacious B » July 15, 2005, 1:52 pm

ok well during the last reset i got a bright/stupid idea.

basically, i've introduced a new "currency" called kudos. you still have the points you get from posting, repying etc, but now you cannot donate those points to anyone else. you must first exchange those points for kudos, (at present 10 000 points = 1 kudo) and then you can donate those kudos.

it now makes it much more important to donate and get kudos, since they are worth much more.

other options include not being able to convert to kudos, and only having a set amount per month, as well as being able to earn kudos for new posts etc.

we'll trial run this for the next couple of days, tell me what you think.

I think you cheated by giving yourself 20kudos to start with.

i don't get it?
During the last six decades, Cliff Richard has charted many hit singles, and holds the record (along with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its active decades (1950s–2000s). According to his website, he has sold 250 million records over the course of his career.

Some of the things matt has said seem to contradict other parts.

Explain it again matt. Why do we all have zero points now?

i don't have a clue what the hell you are talking about, kevin, and thus cannot answer your completely incomprehensible question.

ok, here goes.

you still have points, and you still have the same amount you had before (slightly adjusted because of the reset). but now you have other points, called kudos, which you can only earn by converting normal points into them.

these kudos are the only things you can donate.

does that make any sense? well, sense to you; i don't care if it makes sense to kevin.

You just told us you had 20kudos because you converted them. So what does the above mean?

I actually don't care. Will figure out as it goes along.

its flawed you cannot give yourself kudus by converting points

the only you can get gnu's shold be by donation of points from other people

e.g. if you give me 5000 points i get half an impala

also 10 000 to one is a bit much for one buck

doesn't really sound that much,
apparently it costs around US$1200 to shoot a kudu, http://www.balla-balla.com/broc.html
seeing as we're proudly south african, we can set the conversion rate to about 7 points to a dollar, which means that a kudu should cost about 8400 points, so 10000 is slightly overpriced but still acceptable
